For Those Who Have The Gift of Giving!
Fact 1: In 1999, giving to Protestant Christian overseas ministries was about $3 billion; church giving to benevolences in general has been decreasing as a portion of income over the past 30 years.
Fact 2: Americans spend $58 billion a year on soft drinks, and $65 billion on credit card interest each year.
Fact 3: 10 million children under the age of five die each year around the globe, most from preventable poverty-related causes that could be stopped in Jesus' name for under $5 billion a year. The Bible says, "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins" James 4:17, NIV.
As millions are suffering from hunger all over the world, much more are already dead spiritually and are starving for the Word of God. In light of these facts,
HTMI is doing a service for all of us by applying to the area of Christian giving to missionaries in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. May God bless the efforts of HTMI. The common goal is to increase effective giving for missions from a pocket-change level to a serious-money level worthy of our Savior Jesus Christ. After all, our Lord was not a piker when the universe was first created through him Col. 1:15-20, nor was God a cheapskate when He sent Jesus out of love for the world John 3:16, nor will our Lord be a tightwad in designing the heavenly lodging promised John 14:1-4 that we will enjoy for an eternity with no tears Rev. 21:1-4. In the meantime, may we use every aspect of our skills and creativity, even as Wall Watchers is doing, in responding to God's grace in a worthy manner.
